~how much money to budget for traveling while studying abroad?
Jan 07
I’ll be studying abroad in Liverpool from September-June, and I’m trying to work out my budget early. I am, for the moment, not concerned about money for housing (at school), food, tuition, or toiletries. What I’m trying to figure out right now is how much I should have budgeted for traveling. Does anyone know what a REASONABLE range for student flights, rail passes, etc. are? (Not looking for exact prices, just what I should identify as not a rip-off) Price range for decent hostels?
Thanks!

If you lead a simplest life you will need
at least……
£ 55-75 per week for Living cost.
£ 30-35 per week for Food.
£ 5-8 per week for Mobile phone bill.
£ 10-20/week for Internet & water, heating and electricity.
£ 7/ week for Study Materials.
£ 20/ week for Pocket money.
Tips :
1. Student ID card from the National Union of Student. With this card you will be able to get discounts at many national stores – so always make sure you ask if you can get a discount!
2. If you are living in your own flat, house or halls of residence with no catering you will need to buy your own food. It is common knowledge that supermarkets such as Sainsburys, Marks and Spencer and Waitrose are more expensive than Tesco and Asda. Save money and shop at Asda or Tesco.
3. Your international calling costs will probably be high as you will want to call home often. If you have DSL you can take advantage of Skype to call around the world for little or nothing. But to also take advantage of cheap calls from your mobile or landline phone, check out iCallAbroad UK for low cost calling from the UK.
This is a great question! I’m going to Belgium for three months and I am bringing about $4,000. (I think!) I’ll also have a line of credit available to me. Although, I plan to travel a lot. So, this just depends on you and how much you want to travel and the lifestyle you’d like to lead. I also booked my airfare round-trip for $784. You should check out this blog at http://somestudyabroadgirl.blogspot.com . It will really help you to Gage expenses! Review the postings from the beginning and it will tell you all about places you can go to hunt for cheap airfare, how much your visa’s will cost, etc. It also has random facts you might not know like how you can’t hail a cab in France because they won’t pull over for you. Instead, you have to go to these cab stop thingys. Anyways, check it out because it might really help you.
