How long are you staying for?
youll have to take the above into consideration but i would say maybe 2000 or 1000 euros to insure that you have a good time and can go wherever the “wind takes you” in a moments notice.
I would suggest taking a couple of credit cards, in addition to the euros mentioned above. Use your credit card for any in-store purchases and restaurant purchases. You’ll get a better exchange rate and you won’ t have to carry so much cash with you.
Acouple thousand dollars to convert into their money!
Take enough cash for the first few days (300-400 euros). Take credit cards & your bank card (make sure PIN is only 4 digits) There are atms all over the place. Check with your bank, as there may be a $5 charge or so per withdrawal. Withdraw money maybe once a week, or every few days, which ever suits you best. Avoid carrying large amounts of money on you that if stolen you are screwed. Don’t listen to people who say bring travellers cheques. Waste of time & money. I’ve travelled a number of times to Italy, Spain, Ireland, and have just done the above system. Works just fine.
