How much does travelling cost ?

I am planning on going travelling for a year but I need to earn some money first – generally how much would it cost (including flights, accomodation, everything)

Btw, it will probably be around south america, australia and new zealand.

Also, I am from England so flights from Britain may be different than flights from America, Europe etc

Sorry I didn’t mention that before !

Create style…instantly.

  1. just doing oz now 3months has cost me 12k

  2. Assume £2k for the flights and £40 per day.

And that’s being frugil with good planning and reduced living standards – so add £1000 to cover the occasional blow out. You’ll need it.

You can get working holiday visas for New Zealand and Australia; but you won’t get paid for much. So assume working 1 third of the time and living it up the rest.

On the back of an envelope – say £15k. You can reduce that if you are prepared to work more of your time there – but that would depend on the work being available and your back holding out. Do some research on time of the year to go and how to get the work.

  3. i have done no research but this is what u should do into costs now. then add a little on top for emergency . get travelling insurance this is a must or it might cost u an arm and a leg.check how strong the pound is too cos its up and down. lol at the mo down but its not impossible . this is something i want to do also but have to much on at the mo . but if u want an escort all expenses paid ill come.lolcos one thing i know it wouldnt be what i call cheap. somthing i havnt got much of at the mo dam the credit crunch. good luck!!!!!!

  4. I went to Hong Kong, down the east coast of Australia, all over New Zealand, and then to Bangkok but only for 2 months, this cost me just over 3 grand (stirling) (I was too impatient to wait to save more)
so I would imagine you woud be looking at 10 grand + for a year depending on whether you are going to work whilst you are there!

Good luck, it is something you absolutely must do, I’m saving again to go for longer next time!
