How can I comfortably + privately express ****** milk when travelling ?

My baby girl never learned to latch on properly but I am expressing milk as a next best thing to breastfeeding. Travelling + longer days out seem to require military planning around my expressing sessions. I bought a car adaptor for the expresser machine, + have a mini cooler unit + spare parts for the expresser. Despite best preparation, I’m just worried about how easy it’ll be carrying all this out whilst on the move or visiting some one elses home when travelling soon. Also when on holiday usual rhythms can often slide. Seeking advice on how I can keep up doing this…could it just be a confidence thing. It is very important to me to continue + I don’t want to throw in the towel early with feeding this way just because of a little planning. Any tips gratefully received on this and from any other lady who is exclusively expressing.

I THINK IT’S GREAT THAT YOUR ARE DOING THIS FOR YOUR BABY, IT WILL PROBABLY NOT BE AS HARD AS YOU THINK TO DO IT ON THE GO…..(THAT’S WHAT THEY MADE THE ADAPTER FOR) I DEFINITELY WOULDN’T THROW IN THE PROVERBIAL TOWEL JUST YET….AS FOR HOW COMFORTABLE AND PRIVATE IT WILL BE….I DOUBT YOU WILL GET ANY RELIEF THERE, ESPECIALLY WITH THE PRIVACY….BUT AS A MOTHER TRYING TO GIVE THEIR BABY LIFE AND HEALTHY LIVING, I WOULDN’T BOTHER WITH WORRYING OVER THE PRIVACY PART…PEOPLE WHO ARE AGAINST THAT SORTA THING IN PUBLIC DON’T KNOW WHAT IT’S LIKE TO KNOW YOU ARE GIVING YOUR BABY THE BEST POSSIBLE CARE….I’M SURE THAT YOUR CURRENT PREPARATION AND TECHNIQUES ARE GOING TO SUIT YOUR NEEDS AND THE NEEDS OF YOUR BABY VERY WELL, JUST KEEP IT UP AND ONCE YOU GET THE HANG OF DOING THIS WHILE TRAVELING, YOU’LL BE A PRO IN NO TIME, AND WON’T EVEN THINK OF ANY DOUBTS YOU HAVE NOW….GOOD LUCK!
battery ****** pumps are sluggish but the electric are quick and double pumps much easier. have ice packs frozen and airplanes are receptive to breastfeeding refrig request. Excusing yourself to “take care of baby” is understandable. some people are not supportive but dont make that your problem. keep yoour milk in a small carring case in frig, for squimish relatives. Allergies < and strong teeth beneifited my 2 I br-fed as opposed to the 2 that didnt. good luck and enjoy the trio. think of how much more inconvienant it is to pack respiratory tx. and insulin for ill babies.
skrew other ppl who say it’s not acceptable. Excuse yourself and do it.
It makes a huge difference on whether you are the one driving or not. You never specified that. If you are driving, I wouldn’t suggest pumping at the same time, that’s even more dangerous than talking on a cell phone while driving. But if you are a passenger, then just stick the pump under your shirt, no one is really going to stare at you from their car. Or better yet, your pump might be expensive, but you can get a hand pump that doesn’t use electricity or batteries, they work good for car trips, I had to do this on a four hour trip. Make sure that you have clean water and maybe dishsoap in a little bottle so that you can rinse or clean the parts after you use them, that is handy.
I expressed for 4 months (preemie). You will find that there is always someone willing to let you sit in his office, or use his storage room or whatever so that you can have the privacy you need. You might want to buy the Avent hand pump which is small and discreet, for those times when you are not able to find anything better than a small corner. In malls, there is always the mother and baby rooms….. If you were nursing, the people and places you visit would graciously allow you to nurse in privacy, so stand up for your rights as a nursing mom (albeit a bit differently)!
It sounds like you’re doing a great job!! If you can continue your current schedule, it will be fine.
But…if you need to be able to pump more often or more publicly, I would make one suggestion. Look for the Whisper Wear pump. It is worn completely inside your clothing, and it is *really* quiet. You can actually nurse while you are in meetings or around other people, and they will usually have no idea anything is going on! I haven’t seen unbiased research on the effectiveness of the pump, but a lot of women do use it effectively.
