When you actually visit their website you discover that the $1,000 to shop is free “with Reward Offer Purchases.”I was curious to see what exactly I had to do to receive my $1,000 to shop. It turns out that I would need to spend more than $1,000.

When one wanders into the ridiculousness of retailreportcard.com, a little searching reveals that you must sign up for a total of 6 offers to receive the $1,000 to shop. You must sign up for two offers from three different categories, Top, Prime and Premium. The initial advertisements are from reputable national companies, such as Netflix, but as you continue down the offer path, the offers get progressively more obscure and costly.

After providing all your contact information, you are asked to complete several questionnaires that urge you to sign up for various snail mail and email lists. Once you have successfully navigated the questionnaires, you enter the Top offer section. You must choose to accept two offers from this section to proceed. The site disclaimer mentions that you cannot simply sign up for the offer and cancel it, but that you must maintain the service or you will not receive your free $1,000 to shop. This section is not too difficult since it contains offers such as Netflix, but there are some offers that are unreasonable and downright silly.

If you manage to accept two of the offers in the Top offer section, you proceed on to the Prime offer section. As expected, the level of commitment and expense of these offers is greater than the offers in the Top offer section. Remember that you must sign up for two more offers in this section. These offers not only increase in their required monthly fee, but they are from far less reputable companies.
