What are some cheap hotels in San Francisco?
Nov 22
My friends and I are taking a little road trip up to San Francisco in about a week…I was wondering if anyone could recommend any cheap hotels / motels but in safe spots? Nothing trashy / run down or in dangerous areas though

The Westin St. Francis is good
First of all, no one remembers a cheap hotel. You only remember the fabulous ones.
Secondly, this is San Francisco! The fourth most expensive city in the world! (Behind London, Tokyo and New York). I’d suggest getting a room across the bay in Concord or Richmond and taking BART into town. You’ll save hundreds!
Hyatt Regency in the Financial District is good. Close to everything.
There aren’t any. The going rate to park your car is 40 a day.
I stay at the Hyatt at Fisherman’s Wharf or the Westin down town.
The seedy places are full of vagrants, I would not think about those.
Bid on Priceline, you should get something decent for about 98, as the season is here, about 45 off season. This will not include the cost of parking your car. Not even the very high end park for free.
Try http://www.motel6.com. They have a few properties in the Bay Area.

It describes a bidding strategy with priceline which can allow you to get really nice hotels sometimes for 1/2 off the price. I have used this strategy before and it works.
