The annual spring football game of the Mississippi is shifted back by two weeks, the new staff team will get more practice time and the baseball game will be bigger and better.
The much awaited annual spring football game of the Mississippi State is rescheduled and is shifted two weeks back. The annual spring football game coincides with a series of events on the school’’s campus including a baseball series.
Super Bulldog Weekend will now take place April 17-19. The spring game will be played at Scott Field on Saturday, April 18, spokesman of MSU, Joe Galbraith said.
The full schedule of matches and other events is not yet decided and is expected to be released some time in January. The focus of coach Dan Mullen, who is widely regarded as one of top young minds in college football, will be attracting as many fans as possible. Recent games at Scott Field have drawn in the neighborhood of 5,000 fans.
Dan Mullen became the 32nd head football coach in the history of Mississippi State University.
With the shift in the dates of the football games the date of spring practice will also change, and will be moving three weeks. In the midst of it one week of spring vacation also gets eliminated. The new staff of the team has now more time at its disposal after the national signing day on Feb. 4.
Baseball series will also be directly affected by it and we can expect to see a bigger and a more exciting baseball series.
Mississippi State will play Auburn on April 3-5, which is also the original date of Super Bulldog Weekend. Now when the series is moved two weeks back, the series against Kentucky becomes more meaningful. Kentucky is the state where the new Bulldog baseball coach John Cohen coached for four years, before being recruited by MSU.
Super Bulldog Weekend was an initiative of the alumni of MSU. They wanted an opportunity to return to the campus in spring and enjoy a weekend of athletic events and activities. This year Super Bulldog Weekend will complete 23 years. Ever since its inception the event has proved to be a big crowd puller as fans in large number throng the campus.
Baseball, football and tennis are the major events that take place during this period. Apart from them various events like interactive games, exhibitions, face painting and autograph opportunities are organized.
From its inception, Super Bulldog Weekend has proven to be an event full of fun for the entire family. Its not only about the sports you will also find there are cooking competitions, cook-outs, overall it’s a great fan environment that looks to bring in much more fans then normal for this years event.
